Sweeten your day with some modern-day sugar plums!
These sugar plums aren’t made of hard sugar like in the old days. Instead, a nutritious combo of dried fruit and nuts make for a clean treat. They’re also paleo and Whole 30 approved! (you can totally exclude the vanilla extract if you are sticking to the rules).
Makes: approximately 2 dozen
What you’ll need:
2 cups toasted, unsalted slivered almonds
1 cup dried figs
1 cup dried apricots
¼ cup raw honey
Zest of 1 orange
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
*Optional: Raw sugar or confectioner’s sugar for rolling
Preparation:
1. Combine all ingredients in food processor.
2. Pulse until the mixture starts to combine and resembles a rough mince.
3. Measure out heaping tablespoons of mixture and shape into balls.
4. Optional: roll into raw sugar for an extra sparkle or confectioner’s sugar to look like mini snowballs!
Store in an airtight container.
